This painting is a created from a place of hope. Hope for freedom, mutual understanding, love and peace. The watermelon is a symbol for Palestine as it was banned by Israel to wave the Palestinian flag from 1967 to 1993, so pictures of the watermelon was used instead of the flag to represent Palestine. Pomegranate, Oranges and Olives are all produces native to the Palestinian land, and the pomegranate even has a peace-sign in its natural form. The dove holding an olive branch is an international and biblical totem for peace, renewal and hope.
