By Marios Orozco

This is an impression of the canal in Christianshavn by Marios Orozco. The water can be so quiet in the canal, but if a swan or a small boat passes by, it creates the most amazing ripples in the water, making the reflection of the buildings and boats looks swirled in the water reflection. Marios gets a lot of inspiration from this. He has painted a few paintings this way. The process of making a painting like this is a bit long, as he has to paint three layers to make it look as he want it to look.

Christianshavn is a neighborhood in Copenhagen and part of the district Indre By. It is bounded to the south and east by a rampart with 12 bastions and a moat, Stadsgraven – built in 1692 – and to the Inner City of the inner harbor. Arsenaløen, Holmen and Nyholm to the north also belong to the district. Christianshavn is connected to Zealand with Langebro and Knippelsbro; at Langebro, over the old ravelin, where Amagerport was originally located, and to the north over Krudtløbsvej and Refshalevej. Furthermore, there are two smaller footbridges, the Dyssebroen at Christiania and an unnamed bridge at the Panther Bastion.
